“Safety First” requires more than slogans.

Situation
A heavy manufacturing company was experiencing escalating employee injury rates which were driving up workers compensation premiums, increasing overtime expenses and impeding recruiting efforts. The company had found no solution to the problem and was struggling to meet accident rate goals based upon the prior year experience.

Our Approach
We worked with the leadership team to develop and implement a Safety Management System. With policies and procedures patterned after ISO 9001, the process employs management commitment, stretch goals, communication, training, root cause analysis and countermeasures, detailed tracking and management review.

Results
Within two years, the company reduced both its injury rate and its workers compensation experience rate (mod factor) by 40%.
